Roger grew up in a Christian home where he learned the importance of the local church. He was taught the principles of God's love and the need to have a personal relationship with His son Jesus Christ. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on a summer youth trip. God blessed him with a love for music. He used his gifts and talents singing with his family at various churches. His love for music later lead to God using him in the ministry at a local church.
Roger's first ministry staff position was as a minister of music at a Baptist church in Burgaw, NC. Here he had the opportunity to not only lead the music, but to grow in the ministry and be involved in the preaching, leading the youth program, teaching Bible study and Sunday school. The years spent in this church were valuable training for what God had in store for Roger. After serving 13 years as a minister of music at this Baptist church, Roger was called to be the pastor at Moores Creek in January of 2015.
He and his wife Wendy live in Wilmington, NC and have two adult children, Bethany and Braxton. God has also blessed Roger with a amazing grandson. Besides pastoring the church Roger works a full time job in sales. He enjoys riding motorcycles, the outdoors, photography and spending time with his family.
Roger's passion is for the Word of God to be preached in such a way that the spiritually lost see Jesus as their personal savior, and the regenerate church grow to look more like Christ. He endeavors weekly to open God's word and expositionally preach the truth found in that word, with no hesitation or reservation, because he believes the Bible is God's Revealed Truth.
